DOBRO

The Dobro has a "resonator" on the face. It is played using a metal bar pressing the strings. In the G-tuning, the strings are tuned in G-B-D-G-B-D, which is a G chord.  Thumbpick and fingerpicks are used, similar to the banjo.

It was invented in the 1920s in California. In the 1930s and '40s it was started to use in country-and-western bands. Jerry Douglas is a brilliant Dobro player. While many people think that Dobro is an instrument with many limitations, Jerry Douglas proved that there is no barrier on what type of music the Dobro can be used.
